So what, you may be asking, do I actually do? During a given project one of my major responsibilities is coordination of physician interviews. Typically we interview 40-60 physicians for a project, all of whom have to be found, solicited and scheduled. While the actual process is not one of the more intellectually challenging aspects of my job, it has taught me about time management, efficiency, and organization. Further, since this process results in arguably the most interesting aspect of my job - physician interviews - it is a critical aspect of my role on the project team. Each time our team has an engaging and thought-provoking conversation with a key opinion leader at a top academic institution, I realize the value of my efforts and contributions. As the project evolves, we begin to produce a document for the client. I have gained increasing responsibility in this area. At first, I was given portions of slides to populate with data and relevant quotes from physician interviews. Soon I was asked to make a section of slides on my own, and now I take on the task of building an entire document outline and am responsible for large sections of slides. In conjunction with my increasing contributions to the document, I have been given an increased role in client meetings, both in presenting our document and responding to questions posed by the client. Even from my first months at EA, I was encouraged to interact with clients and present portions of the document at client meetings. This experience has been invaluable in developing my sense of professional client interactions and presentation skills. |
