While there are very few “typical” days at EA, there are a number of activities that are consistently part of my routine. With the added responsibility of managing projects and often more than one at a time, I have had to learn to balance those aspects requiring me to execute and the others that entail supervision. Throughout the course of a project, my days will be divided between physician interviews, team meetings to discuss findings, and some time to myself to analyze the team’s progress and needs. I will also oversee the development of the document that will articulate our analysis and provide the client with a resource with which to make decisions. There is also ample time to meet with the Managing Directors to keep them apprised of our status and to gather insights that will help refine the course of the analysis. Client relations is another integral part of project management. It is typically my responsibility to communicate with the client during the project. We take pride in keeping our clients informed of our developments and we welcome their feedback. In addition to my project work, I have had the responsibility of mentoring four new consultants since their arrival at EA nearly two years ago. This involves offering guidance and advice for consultants’ career development, providing a sounding board for thoughts they might have, and managing their progress through semi-annual reviews. Serving as a mentor has proven to be an incredibly rewarding role as it has afforded me the opportunity to help others learn from my experiences and to be actively involved in career development. |
